Pair of rugs. The Qom, Ghom or Qum carpet is a type of Persian carpet produced in the region of Qom (Iran). The first looms appeared in 1930, on the initiative of merchants from Kashan. Despite their recent manufacture, they have been imposed by the perfection of their technique and the variety of their drawings. The classic motifs are the boteh and zil-e sultan. There are also the flowers on a plain background characteristic of the Ispahan rugs and the central medallion of the Kashan rugs. The Qom carpet looks very colorful; the white and ivory in the background make the multicolored motifs stand out.
